Hike to the Alpine Hut Day 1 of our tour:
Taking a lunch break:
Just about to make the final ascent up to the top with Marijke. You can almost make out the Alpine Hut just above my head to the right ...getting there was the ultimate stair stepper:
Katie in front of the hut:
Kay, Katie and I making use of the self timer on our cameras. Also Steve, the week's lecturer, gave 2 of his sermons outside about the Sermon on the Mount and it was absolutely amazing to hear them while sitting outside on a mountain.
Unfortunately I have no pictures of rock climbing or anything from Day 2 of the tour because I my camera battery died...
Hike Day 3 of the tour to the cross at at the summit. You can see the cross in the middle of the picture. Another stair stepper day but such a rewarding experiencing. Once my whole team got to the top we all kept our packs on as we waited for everyone and prayed around the cross before dropping our bags.
Aka and I at the top for a lunch break.
Another view from the top before continuing on to the cave we were to spend the night in. Unfortunately I have no pictures from inside the cave because I didn't want to ruin my camera. I will be stealing some pictures from those brave enough to have brought theirs in. (Pictures will not do justice though)
The rock field that we gathered at after our night in the cave for the morning devotion and breakfast. You can almost make out the entrance of the cave just above the little clump of snow right above the large rock you can see two people sitting on.
The day after we returned from tour was the day we spent in the river. Here is Kay going across the river via one of the stations involving 2 ropes, a harness and 2 carabiners.
Another one of the stations where you had to pull yourself through the current to get to the otherside...and if you let go just float downstream until you can get to the side.
